A Whiter Shade of Pale - Procol Harum
“The Summer of Love” the year 1967 - The most played track at The Beatles’ ‘Sgt. Pepper’ press launch was Procul Harum’s ‘A Whiter Shade of Pale’. John Lennon was obsessed with it, and played the song over and over on his white Rolls Royce’s record player all the way to the party. Recently Julian Lennon was asked to pick his top songs and one of them was “A Whiter Shade of Pale” explaining the reason why he picked it was that he remembers it being played over and over as a child, and that it reminds him of his father”
It’s also Paul and Linda’s song. They met at the Bag O’ Nails pub, and later went to the Speakeasy club to see Procul Harum perform. They heard “A Whiter Shade of Pale” for the first time, and it became their song.
